Thesis binding [Aug. 24th, 2007|09:38 pm]

I know this group is really quiet, but if anyone could offer advice on this issue I'd be really grateful.

My thesis is due next Friday, and I'm trying to decide where to get it printed and bound. Around the uni there are four printing services (that I know of): Kopy Stop on Mountain street (near Broadway), Kinko's Broadway, Officeworks Glebe, and the University Copy Centre.

Anyone had particularly good or bad experiences with these places? Any recommendations?

Any advice on formatting, binding, etc. would be totally welcome too.

Well, if you've got Adobe Acrobat, it attaches to Word and lets you convert .doc to .pdf. We used to have it at my work, but it disappeared one night.

The Access Labs might have it? Failing which, a quick google search brought up several sites that claim to convert Word documents to PDFs, such as:

I'd be inclined to err on the side of saving it in as many formats as possible. But I only had it as Word, and I managed to get mine in on time looking shiny.

If you're concerned, it might be worth ringing the printing place(s) you're considering visiting and asking what file formats they need and what media they accept. But try not to fret too much - the text is the important part, not the printing.
